The Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa opened in Atlantic City in July 2003 as a partnership by then-named MGM Mirage (today called MGM Resorts International) and Boyd Gaming.  The iconic land-based 161,000 square-foot casino boasts over 4,000 slot machines, nearly 200 game tables and over 50 poker tables.  It also has a sportsbook, and is considered the highest-grossing casino in Atlantic City.  In 2016 MGM bought Boyd’s 50% stake, and is now the whole owner of Borgata.

About The Borgata Online Casino

Borgata was the first to launch an online casino in the state of New Jersey in November 2013, branded as Borgata Casino, which operates on a technology platform that was developed by global online-gambling operator GVC Holdings.  In addition to Borgata Casino, there is also a Borgata Sportsbook and Borgata Poker Room, and there are several other online brands operating under the Borgata online-gambling license in New Jersey (such as sister site BetMGM and GVC’s PartyCasino).

Safety and Trustworthiness

This is what you should look for to determine the safety and trustworthiness on an online casino: A valid license, good reputation amongst other gamblers, track record of years in operation, strong banking system, disclosure of ownership and partnerships.  Borgata Casino ticks all of these boxes in a big way.  With it being the first, longest-standing legal online casino in New Jersey, and one of the first to implement payment safety and protection, as well as advanced online banking systems in place.  And of course being a hallmark land-based casino in Atlantic City, partnered with global online-gambling giant GVC – Borgata Casino is as safe as you can get.

Deposits & Withdrawals

Deposits and withdrawals at Borgata Casino are very straight forward.  With online payment methods like Skrill and Paypal, pre-paid methods, the casino cage and bank transfers and more, there are enough payment options to choose from.

Withdrawals take between 1 to 6 days, depended on the payment method used.  We tried a few methods and found both deposits and withdrawals to be fast and efficient.  We noticed however that the “Banking” section on the Borgata Casino website provided very little information (only a bullet list of the payment methods), and was hard to read due to page errors.  We hope this small design flaw will be fixed soon.

Bonuses

As Borgata Casino states on its website: they want to start you playing in style.  And they are so sure you will like their casino, so they will give you $20 in bonus dollars just for signing up.  Borgata Casino will then also match your first deposit by 100%, up to $600 of free-play money.  So you can deposit $600 for example, and have $1,200 to play with.  The bigger your deposit, the larger your bonus is.

In order to redeem the bonus and be eligible to withdraw it as cash later, you will need to play the $20 signup bonus x1 time, and the deposit bonus x10 times.  Also note that the $20 signup bonus will only be redeemable once you made a deposit to follow.

Game Selection

When it comes to casino games, Borgata Casino has a game library that competes nicely with other leading online casinos in New Jersey.

With over 500 titles from the world’s top game providers, you can play on Borgata Casino on over 450 Slot Games and 15 Progressive-Jackpot Games.  Slots include big titles such as IGT’s Siberian Storm, NetEnt’s Jimmy Hendrix, and the GVC-exclusive Progressive Loot’Enkhamun.

Borgata Casino also features a good selection of Table Games including Roulette, Blackjack, Video Poker and more.  The Live-Dealer section features Roulette, Blackjack and Baccarat.

Two more cool game-categories that make Borgata Casino stand out from the rest are the “Variety Games” with 12 Slingo variations, Scratch Cards and fun variety titles such as The Voice, Wheel of Fortune and more.  The “Virtual Sports” section has on offer Virtual Motorcycles, Horses and Soccer.

As a player said: “At Borgata Casino you can play on a different slot every day, and still not go through all of them in a year.”

User Interface and Navigation

In addition to the casino itself, the top menu at Borgata Casino provides links to the resort, sportsbook and poker.  Clicking on the Borgata Casino logo on the top-left takes you to the sportsbook, which was confusing but not a big deal.

Things get better when looking at the second menu, which includes all the games easily organized by categories.  And also within each tab, games are grouped based on featured games, game provider, new games, etc.  This, combined with the “Search Game” box on the left side of the menu made the experience of browsing through games a joy.

The Borgata Casino Loyalty section is detailed and gives a good overview of the rewards plan, tiers and points.  The Banking section is a bit messy, and contains very little information if you aren’t logged in.

All in all, games were easy to search and find, and the Borgata Casino interface provided good usability and experience.

Mobile App

Borgata Casino offers a version that is customized for mobile devices, and we found it to be very good.  In terms of browsing things are laid out similar to the desktop version, and has over 430 games, which is very impressive for mobile.  So although naturally some more scrolling is required, but we found the user interface to be very good and useful even on the smaller phone screens we tested.  When coming to the native app, there are less games offered on the Borgata Casino app.  We hope that more games will be added, and this gap will be closed soon.

Promotions

Borgata Casino offers some great promotions and bonuses for returning players.  The “Promotions” section in Borgata Casino is full with new promotions every month with leaderboard competitions awarding winners with electronics, jewellery, cash prizes and more.  There are also many monthly promotions for earning bonus dollars and reward points.

Borgata Casino also runs daily offers.  For example: giving 20 players a $20 bonus every Monday, drawing a prize package for two including a room, dinner and show at the Borgata Hotel every Tuesday; a cashback on 20% of losses on Wednesday (if you deposit $100 or more), etc.

Make sure you check out the Borgata Casino “Promotions” section often, as they update their prizes and bonuses frequently.

Loyalty

The Borgata Casino iRewards Loyalty Program lets you earn iReward Points (iRPs) for wagering and playing in the casino.  You can then spend your iRPs shopping in the iRewards store.  You can use points to buy bonuses, convert to cash, but what we found especially cool was that the store also offers clothing, electronics, and you can also use iRPs for rooms, upgrades and dinning at MGM properties.

The iRewards program has tiers as below, where you receive better terms and rewards as you climb up through the tiers.

Each tier requires you to maintain a level of monthly points as follows:

  • Red Label: 0, entry tier.
  • Red Label Plus: 150 iRPs/month.
  • Silver Label: 650 iRPs/month.
  • Black Label: 2,500 iRPs/month.
  • Black Elite: 15,000 iRPs/quarter.

Note that although you earn points as you play games, different games will earn you different levels of points.  So 1 iRP is earned by wagering amounts on games is as follows:

  • Slots, Other Games: $10
  • Progressives: $20
  • Roulette, Baccarat: $25
  • Blackjack, Video Poker, Craps: $75

Support

The Borgata Casino customer service and support teams can be contacted by phone or email, 24/7.  We received replies to most of our email inquiries within one business day, and we found them to be helpful.  There were a few more complicated issues that we took by phone, and didn’t get replies right away, but still got the answers and help we were after within a short time.

Borgata Casino takes you through a lengthy FAQ section before letting you contact their support team, which we found a bit annoying, but overall the Borgata Casino customer support was very helpful and professional.

Review Summary

Borgata Casino was the first legal online-casino in New-Jersey, and the combination of a few good years of online presence, along with an iconic land-based casino brand, makes it one of the most popular online casinos in the Garden State.  We found the game selection to be one of the best in the market, and the iRewards Loyalty Program is also very competitive.  The mobile version is good, and with more games added to the mobile app, it will be ever better.

Borgata Casino is one online casino in New Jersey we really liked, and with a $20 risk-free bonus, why don’t you try it? We are sure you will like it too!
